Lizzy’s Journal | I’m back to school!

This will be a excerpt of my journal;

I’m going back to university next Tuesday and I will be studying Communications, precisely culture and art history classes.

I’m the kind of girl that will be a student forever, quite ironic since I used to HATE school in high school being too obsessed by my social and love life. Also, being a student is very useful since I get special rebates when I go shopping and taxes return at the end of the year. Nevertheless, when you’re passionated by what you study, you crave learning more and more about that subject. Don’t even get me started on Art History, I will start a monologue about everything I know about it! Right now my plan is to work part time and study but I’m not giving myself any time limit to finish my Bachelor.

I know I have to discipline myself to keep this blog rolling while I’m at school. I’m planning to travel in a van or RV after this school year in Spring 2017. FOR SURE I’ll be posting about all the steps and obstacles I will go through to achieve this plan.

Before school started I did a massive room makeover so I would start this new school year fresh and clean. I have a huge candle collection that I’m thinking of making a haul about. When I’m not working I’m watching youtube videos most of the time; I’m obsessed by Shane Dawson, Roseellendix, Marzia and Zoella!

I will be back very soon,

Lizzy Basil

I’m on a Quest …

to find a badass RV Camper!

It started out me only wanting a Westfalia because it’s so hyped, then someone reminded me it’d be easier to find parts if my car broke down when it’s an american brand. I started looking around at festivals and on the internet and american vans look pretty dope too and they have all the camper equipment (stove, beds, sometimes shower etc )

My sister and her boyfriend recently bought a chevy van and went down from Montreal to Florida with this van that cost them 2500$ They happened to have repair to do while they were on the road but he’s a mechanic so it was fine. Now I don’t wanna spend my road trip in the garage so I really wanna make sure I buy something worth the money that isn’t expensive and I could get repaired at home.

I will write all the steps I have to go through to get my van! More posts to come about planning a road trip and sleeping in a van.

°° Weekly Playlist °°

hgjyhI feel so nostalgic already about Amnesia Rockfest 2016, I never thought I’d say I miss sleeping in my car! There was something so cozy ( ya I know I’m weird) about getting to my car at 1 pm after all the rock shows and getting to sleep with all our stuff around us in the car placed where we wanted. Every morning I woke up before Pat and hung out with our parking neighbours Mike and Geoff and Pat would join when he woke up. They’d offer us beer and we had long morning chats with them until we started starving for lunch! I miss the atmosphere of everyone being so friendly and with a passion for rock music! I miss screaming all the lyrics of Limp Bizkit even if it means talking with a men’s voice for two days after.

Here’s one of my weekly playlist because I know I’ll make another one for sure. Some of the artists of it were from Rockfest 2014 which was the first festival I went to.

° Amnesia Rockfest 2016 °

I just came back from the Amnesia Rockfest in Montebello, Quebec. I know I didn’t keep up with my WEEKLY PLAYLIST schedule but I had my finals and the Rockfest to plan. I went with my boyfriend Pat, but we had other friends that were camping on another site down there. We slept in our car in the festivals parking lots that costed about 30$ if I’m not mistaking. The festival was awesome and it could only be due to that badass lineup.We planned to see Korn, NOFX, Sum 41, Blink 182, Limp Bizkit, Ice Cube, Lamb of God, Sepultura, Twisted Sister and Jane’s Addiction, although we ended up not seeing the last 2 because they were on the Jaegermeister scene and we didn’t feel like walking through everyone who’s running and pushing around. We missed Sepultura because we went to a beach to refresh since it was like 35 degrees Celsius. We still saw a lot of the great bands we planned to see!

¨ Weekly Playlist ¨

Hey babeez,

Today on this fairly good Montreal spring day of 20 degrees celcius I rode around the city where I live. I could say driving alone with good music OF MY CHOICE is my favorite way to think and create new ideas in my mind. I will be posting a weekly playlist of 7 SONGS or more ( for each day of the week )loyal to my favorite driving and thinking jams of the week.

My taste in music go from experimental electronic to jazz to heavy metal to reggaeton. You will get served!

Summer days, coming my away

Festival season is all year around in Montreal, but in summer I can’t wait to go to Amnesia Rockfest and Osheaga! I’m getting ready mentally and I’m already there in my mind when I listen to this playlist.

I love the Live spotify sessions and i’ve been loving the Bonnaroo 2014 one

Babe & setting sun

My sister Leila and I decided to make a mood video inspired by the poem of a French poem, La branche d’amandier. We figured the poem talks about flowers through the four seasons or even the life of a girl who becomes a women. We imagined fields of wheat and flowers. We heard atmospheric indie music playing in our heads. We wanted to create a video that made you want to know who this women was.

You can see our video here -> Babe & sunset

Here is the poem by Alphonse de Lamartine 🙂

Savourons ces courtes délices;
Disputons-les même au zéphyr,
Epuisons les riants calices
De ces parfums qui vont mourir.

Souvent la beauté fugitive
Ressemble à la fleur du matin,
Qui, du front glacé du convive,
Tombe avant l’heure du festin.

Un jour tombe, un autre se lève;
Le printemps va s’évanouir;
Chaque fleur que le vent enlève
Nous dit : Hâtez-vous de jouir.

Et, puisqu’il faut qu’elles périssent,
Qu’elles périssent sans retour!
Que ces roses ne se flétrissent
Que sous les lèvres de l’amour!
